Macomb County Yoga Studio

Our Mission

Our yoga studio exists to share the many benefits of Yoga through an authentic lineage based on the teachings in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra.

We pride ourselves on the use of the original Sanskrit language, guided breath and poses which affect our ability to foster self-acceptance, peace, good health and success in everyday life.

From our Newsletter

Lately I’ve been thinking about why the lotus flower is an auspicious symbol for many yogis, and I’ve found it so compelling that “be the lotus” has become my own personal mantra over the past few days.
The symbolic use of the lotus flower can be traced back to Ancient Egypt, and when you learn the details of the behavior of this plant, you’ll see why people continue to be fascinated by it today.
Consider the following:
  • The lotus seed has been known to survive droughts for over a hundred years.
  • The lotus flower grows best in muddy, mucky water that people would normally consider uninhabitable.
  • The lotus flower actually retreats back into that muck at night and reemerges in the morning, seemingly untouched by the “filth.

Need I say more?!

I guess that’s one thing that’s unique to humans: we can find inspiration throughout the natural world.

And more than that, we can make small changes in response to that inspiration; we can take steps to change our lives and perspectives for the better.
I hope that, like the lotus, you are able to bring forth something beautiful amidst any ugliness or hardship happening in your life.
Wishing you health, happiness, and freedom from suffering,

This Group was created in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic in March of 2020. We have always tried to foster a sense of community through our yoga studio, and have been grateful for the opportunity to stay connected through the Group, though we have had to remain physically apart.

The generosity of our talented teachers has allowed us to continue to share the benefits of yoga through Facebook Live classes and inspiring messages. Our members support the teachers directly through donations.
